WebKnob thorn (Senegalia nigrescens). Knob thorn are a large genus of wild legume trees and shrubs. Several species contain a substance used in inks and adhesives. The bark of some species is used for timber, fuel, musical instrument materials, and other purposes. Many of the knob thorn plants aid in agroforestry and soil preservation. WebKnob thorns are drought resistant and their hard wood makes them termite resistant too. The wood is used for fence posts, home building material and has even been used for mine props and railway sleepers. It is also excellent fire wood. A variety of birds use the tree for nesting, especially those that use holes in trees to nest.
